Hi friends!
I’m Tarah Theoret, your new Reader Concierge at NetGalley, which means I have the pleasure of working with our ever-expanding community of professional readers (reviewers, bloggers, librarians, booksellers, media professionals, and educators). I will be answering your support questions (via Facebook, & Twitter, or support[at]netgalley.com), helping to connect you with content you’ll love from our publishers, and generally being your go-to gal for all things NetGalley. I’m especially excited to expand our social media to grow our community and enhance our interaction with you, our readers. So stay tuned for some exciting enhancements—not just to the NetGalley website itself, but also in the ways we connect with all of you. This includes more interactive posts (questions, polls, and contests) on Facebook, Twitter, and our blog Follow the Reader!
Before coming to work for NetGalley I worked at Penguin Young Readers Group, where I did marketing for YA & Middle Grade books and used NetGalley from the publisher’s perspective. It was easy to recognize what a useful tool NetGalley is for publishers and professional readers alike. Imagine my delight in finding an opportunity to join this (quickly) growing company that connects readers and publishers, and to have a chance to begin interacting with such a wonderful community. Personally, I love reading fiction on my Kindle Fire.
You’ll begin hearing from me about new titles that fit your interests and what changes we have in store for your NetGalley experience. Don’t hesitate to reach out anytime (via Facebook, & Twitter, or support[at]netgalley.com)—I love hearing from you!
I am so excited to join the NetGalley Concierge Team and am looking forward to helping all of you explore and use NetGalley!

Tarah,
Welcome, and thank you for introducing me to Netgalley, I will be reading over the summer and giving reviews. My co-workers who are also very extensive readers will enjoy the book talk and sharing of good books!

Congratulations on becoming concierge. I look forward to seeing what you have to offer.
Welcome. I look forward to hearing from you.
Tarah, why does your name make me think of Dejah Thoris? Ayway, congratulations on becoming concierge. I will probably come running to you with questions. Here’s the first one: Since John Wiley & Sons is now part of the family, why can’t I find them on search by publisher? When I was a cop half my professional library came from John Wiley & Sons, and I always found it a very trustworthy firm.
Hi Anne,
Thanks for the warm welcome. I suggest going to Browse by Publisher (on the left-hand side) and then scrolling down to John Wiley & Sons. You can also search by publisher by going to Browse by Recent, then select Publisher in the pull-down menu, and then type in John Wiley & Sons. Both options will show you their current list of books available for request or read now. If you have any other questions feel free to email us at support@netgalley.com.
All best,
Tarah
Congratulations on joining NetGalley! I look forward to working with you. What a wonderful adventure reading is! To do it for a job must be heaven. I hope the new job is everything you dream it is. I hope your days are happy ones here and I promise not to problem you with silly questions, we are, after all, professional readers, which means that we can read instructions and FAQs just as well as anyone else. So, good luck!
All My Best,
Melinda Le Baron

I hope that isn’t a name based on your condition! That was a nice welcome to Tarah. I like the designation “professional reader.” We used to try to teach our college students “close reading” without, usually, much success, but we professional readers should be able to do close reading without much difficulty. My brother told me today that he considered book reviewing extremely difficult, and does not understand why I take so much pleasure in it. But I think it’s something hardwired into our brain.
Tarah, I can’t get on the comments section that has the comments from users, so I’m posting mine here and you can move it to the right place.
I joined NetGalley July 4, and despite spending three weeks getting files in order so that I wouldn’t be reviewing books prematurely, I still managed to post 24 reviews in July. I expect to do at least 30 in August. I am happier than I have been for a long time, because I have always been an outdoor person except when I was reading, and I’m now a semi-invalid and can’t even go in my own backyard. My brother said that he considers book reviewing extremely difficult and can’t see why I enjoy doing it, but I’m having a ball. Thanks to the creators of NetGalley. This is definitely a win-win-win transaction.
Hi Tarah, Small question, immediately after the books were released to me they were archived. Now 3 books show as archived and I never even got the chance to download them. Does that mean that ship has sailed? Or is there a way to still access the books?
Hi there! Once a publisher archives a title, it is no longer available for readers to download. Most publishers archive titles around the pub or on-sale date, but it is entirely up to each publisher when they choose to archive each title. Some publishers have a note in the title description that says the date they plan to archive the title, so that you’ll know ahead of time.
Thanks Tarah!
You are really skillful and i am really glad to know you.I am call center in Finland country where we are focusing more on customer service and it is good to read your article. Thanks for sharing.
Tarah, I hope you are enjoying your new role at Netgalley. I just recently discovered netgalley and love the site and the ability to read some really great books! Thank you!
